Emma Bennison

Chief Innovation Officer

Life Without Barriers

Emma Bennison has over twenty years’ experience as a CEO and non-executive Director.

A TEDx speaker, determined to push against barriers to true equity and equality, Emma is passionate about finding innovative solutions to challenging problems. Emma creates collegial organisational cultures that attract great people, achieve great results and nurture tomorrow’s leaders.

Currently, Emma serves on the Executive Management Team of Life Without barriers in the role of Chief Innovation Officer, where she provides empowering, inspiring, and collaborative leadership that drives the development and implementation of strategic change and engagement initiatives in relation to disability advocacy and community services delivery across the organisation and beyond.

Prior to commencing her current role, Emma fulfilled five years as CEO of Blind Citizens Australia, revitalising the national representative organisation of Australians who are blind or vision impaired. Blindness is an aging disability which is why, during her tenure with Blind Citizens Australia, Emma advocated relentlessly for the rights of older Australians. Specifically, she worked closely with blind and vision-impaired people over 65 to advocate for equity of access to supports between My Aged care and NDIS, particularly in relation to the provision of accessible information.
